Toronto Blue Jays Prospect Travis Snider
Travis Snider was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays with the fourteenth overall selection in the 2006 amateur draft. Snider played his High School baseball at Jackson High, in the state of Washington. The selection of Snider broke a long running trend set by General Mangers JP Ricciardi, who in pure money ball fashion prefers to draft college players in the early rounds of a draft. In fact, outside of the selection of Snider, JPs highest pick used on a high school player was 206th overall, in 2002. One of the historical knocks against drafting a high school player with a high selection is that you will have to wait a few years for them to grow into their bodies. This should not be an issue for Snider, who stands at a height of 6 feet and a weight of 220 pounds. He even played running back and linebacker in high school. Baseball America ranked Snider as the fourth best high school player heading into the 2006 draft and he has done nothing to dispel his ranking. Below are his stats from short season Appalachian League rookie ball.
He has some great stats from an 18 year old! Plenty of power, average, walks and he even threw in six steals.
When we look at his splits we have to be impressed with his .957 OPS vs. left handed pitchers. Now, if we had to pick on one thing it would be his walk to strikeout ratio against lhp, at a rate of 20:4. This would indicate that he isnt picking up the ball as well out of a leftys hand as opposed to a rightys but again this is a small sample and quite a small sticking point for a player that slugged .609 against left handed pitching. However, it will be an interesting area to keep an eye on in the near future. From what we have gathered at mop up duty, Snider will not be participating in any winter leagues. With a promotion to low A all but assured for next season the future looks bright for Travis Snider and he will certainly be one prospect to keep an eye on.

Roy Halladay
One of the best pitchers in the American League is Toronto Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay. He is shown his power and poise this season, and is definitely a front runner to take home the Cy Young award when the season finishes up in another month or so.When Halladay takes the mound for the Blue Jays they expect to win. This may seem like a lot of pressure on one player, but Halladay has been able to withstand the heat no matter what is thrown at him. ...
Toronto BlueJays Handicapping: 2006 Season Preview
The Toronto Bluejays are either going to be a very exciting team in 2006 or a very mediocre underachieving team. They made a lot of offseason moves that should catapult them to the top of the American League. It is just unfortunate that the Yankees and Red Sox are teams they will have to contend with just to win their division. The Orioles came out of the gates strong in 2005 but died down. The same could happen to the Blue Jays. If they come out ...
Yankee Alex Rodriguez Stirring It Up
The floundering Yankees managed to win one yesterday. Many are questioning A Rods tatics in the top of the ninth. With the Yankees up by two runs, Alex Rodriguez was running from first on a pop fly by Jorge Posada. As the Blue Jay Clark, 3b, was preparing to catch the pop fly with McDonald, ss, backing up the play; A Rod let out a yell. This yell was heard by Clark as one of his team mates calling him off and he backed off at the last moment. McD...
Major League Baseball Rookies - Top 10 Baseball Rookies from 2005
10. Felix Hernandez (Seattle Mariners)While Felix Hernandez has only made 4 starts in the Major Leagues this year, he has done enough in those 4 starts to have him recognized as one of the top rookies in the major leagues. He currently has an ERA of 1.24, and has been dominating opponents with the ease of a savvy veteran. Felix Hernandez is only 19 years old, and is probably the best prospect pitcher to come along since Mark Prior. While its s...
Whitby And Ajax Ontario Injury Lawyers And Legal Information (Car Accidents, Slip And Falls, Etc)
Ajax and Whitby are communities that have grown dramatically in recent times. While some injury lawyers have opened offices in the area, there is not the same presence of injury lawyers as there is in larger financial centers like Toronto, Ontario. While you may ultimately choose to retain a lawyer that practices in Ajax or Whitby, it can be a good idea to meet with at least one lawyer in Toronto or the surrounding area to see a contrast betwee...
