The Reds have signed Bubba Crosby for a one year contract and seem to have succeeded in adding some depth to their outfield. The contract is worth $400,000.

By offering this Major League contract to Crosby, Cincinnati has protected him on its 40 man roster. However, Crosby is not assured of a spot on the 25 man roster for the Opening Day 2007. Bubba Crosby who is 31 years old will go for the Spring Training and will have to compete for a spot of a reserve outfielder.

Reds general manager Wayne Krivsky expressed his happiness in signing Crosby by informing that the Reds were getting a player who has been on winning teams and knows to play the hard; and who can play in the three different outfield positions.

Crosby is a left handed hitter and has spent the last three seasons between Yankees and Triple A Columbus. With the Yankees he averaged .207 with one home run and six RBIs. While with Columbus he batted .238.

Crosby was originally the part of the Dodgers organization before breaking into the Major League in 2003. His career statistics for 205 big league games he has played are .216 batting average and .255 on base percentage. He became a six year Minor League free agent after the 2003 season.

Wayne Krivsky commented that Crosby knows the kind of hitter he is and which part of game he needs to work on. The Reds were interested in him and decided to sign him by offering the contract to him.

Some Greats of the Game with Hall of Fame Credentials
As I see it there is an on deck circle to the Hall of Fame. But, being in the on deck circle does not mean you will get in. Just like a baseball game, there is always someone who is the next batter that does not get to play. Same thing with the Hall of Fame. Some of these players will remain in the on deck circle to the Hall. Jim Rice, Dave Parker, Andre Dawson are three players that I think have had the careers deserving Hall of Fame recognition....

Baseball History May Be Ever Changing But Some Things Never Change
Baseball history, like all history, certainly is ever changing, but some aspects of the game have remained unchanged for well over a half-century. There are a few reasons for this - over time the basic rules of the game have for the most part remained unaltered; the development of essential skills continues to involve an investment of time and personnel by ball clubs; and fans have always flocked to see money players and exciting teams. In 1976, M...

One of The Best Baseball Ever Saw: Roger Alan McDowell
All baseball players need not necessarily be good coaches and vice versa. However in the case of Roger Alan McDowell, the former is true. While talent, hard work, right grooming, burning ambition, and good amount of luck are the factors required to make a celebrity player, the team spirit, proper mix of talents, and leadership, makes a team. The latter faculties are put into use by the players off the ground as well as a coach to produce the best...
