Our Birth Matters

As people each of us has a profound need to connect with each other. We want to attach. We want to know we matter. We want to know we are not alone, that we belong.

It’s really very basic, a basic human need. It starts before we are even born. We are affected in the womb by whether or not our birth is planned, wanted, desired by our mother. We are traumatized at our birth as we separate from our mothers womb.

It turns out to be such a meaningful matter, our birth, and so often overlooked, and forgotten. So often we dont even pay attention to the significance of it all. After all, a birth tells us we can survive, and become unattached. It’s a paradox of sorts. The need to go at it on our own, a separateidentity with our own thoughts and feelings and ideas, and a need to connect with our mother.

As we are faced with the task of sharing parents with siblings, our birth becomes significantly influenced by the needs of our siblings births, and managing all of this is commandered by our parents, which is dominated by their births, and so it goes, from one generation to the next.

Right from the start we learn that we are uniquely affected by all of our family members birth, and how each enters the world.

So often in our search for personal growth, we take notice of the events and circumstances surrounding our lives, and dont pay much attention to our entrance into this world, or the entrance into the world of our parents and siblings.

Genealogists pay attention to the facts about our siblings, our ancestors, taking care to explore dates around births, weddings, deaths and other significant events as if they are independent of each other. Psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists explore the information one step further reviewing the emotional impact.

Highly likely that we dont know the impact our births has had on us, or even taken the time to consider the impact. However there are tools for people, which help explore these relationships, and help us to explore the impact on us. Its time we begin to utilize them, to gain an awareness of them for our own health, and the health of our families.

I invite you to learn more about this model, and its effectiveness with people of every age, race and socioeconomic group. I have organized the teachings into a total toolkit to provide you with rapid assessments and interventions. I invite you to visit my website at http://www.interactiveteddybears.com and purchase this toolkit for your group or practice.

Merry Christmas and to Hell With Political Correctness
Happy Holidays? How lame does that sound!Rejoice! This is Christmas. The season for celebrating the birth of Christ.Unfortunately in some parts of the world, the thought police are trying to hijack the meaning of Christmas. Loony political correctness, in its insane quest to turn the world into one big generic homogenous blob without any interest, humour, culture or free expression is campaigning to remove any reference to Christ from Christmas. ...

How to Use Articles to Drive Traffic to Your Social Network Page Part II

3. Article marketing will allow you to diversify your target market.

One of the foremost problems when you have target readers is that you can really narrow down your market at a very big scale. Most of all, it seems useless to have a number of people who may not actually be interested with what you have but still visit your profile page nonetheless. It will be very hard for you to convert them into sales leads and customers later.

You can very well solve this problem through article writing. You can sort your articles in various categories, namely, business, entertainment, fashion, etc. This way, you can capture as many of social network users as possible, and you are somehow assured that topics belonging to such categories will increase their interest on your related products and services. Hopefully, you articles will also be published in their respective profiles, especially in their blogs and the discussion groups they are participating. Moreover, not only will this diversify your target market but it will also allow you to sustain your traffic, particularly in times when you tend to lose your search engine rankings and traffic because of changes in algorithm.

4. You can get a backlink with your articles.

A backlink is a backlink, and you know how they can boost your search engine rankings. When you have excellent content posted in your blog, no matter where it is located, it will surely be passed around by other social networking users. The more inbound links pointing to your website the greater are your chances of increasing your rankings in search engines. When you get a better position in Google, Yahoo, and MSN, the more it will be easier for your website to garner attention from visitors. The cycle then goes on and on.

Now, before you get too excited about writing your articles now, you need to do one more thing: dont forget to inform all your friends that you have a new article either posted in your blog or even at your own profile. With the Updates section present in social networking websites, its easier for your Friends to track any activities. Nevertheless, you cant be too complacent.

Birthstone Charts - Choosing Gifts with Traditional, Astrological and Celtic Birthstones

Birthstones make ideal gifts, but did you realize that there is more than one list of birthstones. If you combine the different birthstone gems, flowers and colors from the different lists the combinations can be bewildering. However, by choosing from the various birthstone charts we can create many unique gift ideas.

The first birthstone chart that most people consider is the traditional one. This has a different stone or stones for each month. For example the August birthstone is peridot and the September one is sapphire. The stones can vary greatly in value and this can make it difficult to find appropriate gifts. Especially for those born in April where the stone is diamond.

For those that are astrologically minded there is a list of birthstones by starsign. Using the zodiac birthstone may prove less expensive as the gems for April are bloodstone and sapphire rather than the traditional diamond.

There is even a Celtic birthstone chart that has a Celtic name for each division of the calendar and a gem for each. There is also a tree associated with each division. It may be an idea to give that tree as a gift, especially to a younger person so that they can watch it grow.

You can choose many types of jewelry containing the appropriate stones. You could give a mother a bracelet with the stones of her children. It is obviously best to stick with one list and find a gift of the appropriate value. It may be possible to use alternative gems or use gems of the same color if the actual birthstone proves too expensive.

There are flowers and colors associated with the traditional birthstone chart and these can be used to personalize the gift. In some cases they can be used to enhance the gift if a less expensive gem has been used.

As you can see there are many combinations of jewelry, birthstones, flowers and colors that you can use to create unique gifts. You will need to be careful that you choose appropriate gems or flowers for the correct birth date. You may want to give a note with the gift to indicate the care and thought that you have put into the choice.

Yet promotional gifts often achieve results unobtainable by other forms of advertising and marketing through their unique ability to deliver and keep targeted messages directly in front of customers or prospects. Many businesses therefore turn to promotional gifts to help them enhance their brand...

A Guide to College Baseball Bats

In the mid 1850s, when baseball was in its infancy, players made their own bats. They experimented with flat bats, round bats, and heavy bats. They ultimately discovered that the barrel shaped bat was the most effective. Today, college baseball bats have taken this technology to a new, powerful level upon the introduction of aluminum bats in the mid 1970s. Too many wooden bats were being broken, so due to budget crunches suffered by many college athletic programs, collegiate baseball made the switch from wood to aluminum bats. This sparked a debate that rages today.

Many purists want to do away with the high tech aluminum/alloy bats and return to the days where they claim hitters had to be much better in order to rack up those high batting averages. On the other hand, a many people believe that the aluminum college baseball bats elevate the game to an exciting level, with more home runs and a faster pace. Colleges still prefer the aluminum bats due to their durability, their cost effectiveness, and their lightweight swinging power.

College players can pay as little as $50 for a used bat or up to several hundreds of dollars for ultra-light, specialized alloy bats. College players usually have a good feel for what kind of bat they need. They should consider personal height in relation to the length of the bat, and of course barrel size and weight. One advantage of current college baseball bats is that the batter can capitalize on the inside edge of the strike zone. So when a pitcher is trying to jam the batter, a base hit can be ripped out with a good aluminum bat.

College baseball bats are available online, in sporting goods stores, and at used equipment outlets. Always ask the coach for guidance, and test bats for free at a batting cage so that you may more effectively judge the bats power and fit before making your selection.

Baseball Bats Info provides detailed information on youth, wood, college, senior league, and discount baseball bats, baseball bat reviews and more. Baseball Bats Info is the sister site of Baseball Gloves Web.

Finding Consistency in College Baseball Bats
College baseball bats are more high-tech than the bats that the pros use. The pros, you see, are behind the times with their baseball bats. Their wood relics have been out of fashion for years. Wood makes for baseball bats that are heavier, less long lasting, and less effective than their counterparts made from aluminum.Todays best baseball bats are to be found in the college ranks. Theyre made of military grade aluminum provided by corporations ...

An Introduction to Baseball Bats
Whether you enjoy the crack of wood or the ping of aluminum, baseball bats are designed for players ranging from Little Leaguers to professionals. Baseball bats are crafted out of specialized woods, composites or alloys, and aluminum, depending on the league. Bats can be forged out of various woods, ash and maple being the most popular.Baseball bats are available in different barrel sizes and lengths. Little League, Senior League, and college lev...

Senior League Baseball Bats
Baseball bats are available in both wood and a variety of metal versions; purists often prefer the wood bat, but aluminum or other alloy bats are usually standard at non-professional levels. Wood bats still have their own beauty as well as technical advantages; for example, the baseball player who practices with a wood bat can get more oomph from an aluminum bat, due to differences in weight and a more precise sweet spot.Senior League baseball b...

A Look at Youth Baseball Bats
When selecting youth baseball bats it is important to consider the bats length, weight, barrel width, and league requirements. While wood bats are available, most people select aluminum or cutting-edge alloy bats for youth baseball. A general rule is to select the lightest bat for its length in order to maximize swing power. Lighter bats are more expensive, while heavier bats are usually thicker and made from a cheaper-grade aluminum. Longer yout...

Traditional Wooden Baseball Bats
Wood baseball bats are available for all leagues and levels. Some believe wood baseball bats embody the art or the poetry of baseball. Precision crafted wood bats are replete with the spine-tingling crack of a home run or the splintered remains of wooden warrior that drilled its last base hit. Though aluminum or alloy bats outnumber wood bats in the non-professional leagues, many players feel a kinship with the natural wood and when using them, f...

My Top 10 Tips On Doing Your Own PR

PR doesn’t just have to mean press releases. There’s loads you can do both on-line and off-line that can help your PR campaign…and some of it means that you don’t even need to speak to a journalist. Here’s my top 10 tips on putting together a low-cost PR campaign:

1. Coming up with a story is one of the hardest aspects to PR - what do you talk about? This is even more difficult if there’s literally nothing going on in your business. But, don’t worry - it’s always possible to come up with something to write about. The first step is to have a look in newspapers, magazines, listen to the radio and watch TV. What sort of things are they covering? I’m willing to bet that it’s not all news. Quite a lot of it will be top tips, expressing an opinion or even a good news story! Once you’ve done this, have a think about possible topics that you could write about under the following headings: human interest stories, surveys, express an opinion, how to…, 10 top tips…, news item, question and answer (ask the expert), scandal and controversy, seasonal, competitions and working with charities. Do this with a friend or colleague and see how many topics you can come up with.

2. After coming up with some possible titles, the next stage is to write your press piece. You can make this into a traditionally press release, but I think it’s sometimes much better to write it in a more informal style. Imagine you’re sitting on a sofa having a chat with someone about your topic. Then write it in this style. Make it conversational and light. Keep your sentences short and don’t be afraid to start the sentences with words like “And”. I know your English teacher would have a fit, but you’ll enjoy writing it much more I promise.

3. OK, so you’ve written your piece. Now, use it in as many places as you can. Yes, send it directly to the press, but also put it in your newsletters (if you have them) or in other people’s newsletters (if you don’t); distribute it on-line (type in “free article websites”) into Google; put it into a blog (set one up for free at www.blogger.com); or post it onto your website. Remember, it often takes quite a while to write a PR piece, so make sure you take advantage of all the opportunities you can.

4. So, you’ve written something and you’d like to get it into the press. Remember, journalists are very busy people, so if you are going to send them something, make it as easy as possible for them. Send in your piece with a photo or if you’re going to send it into a radio station, record a quote using a Dictaphone and send it with your piece. The easier you can make it for journalists, the more likely you are to get your piece in.

5. Build a relationship with the journalist. Before just sending your piece into them, call them first and ask their permission. Send in the piece by email and then call them a couple of days later to make sure they’ve received it. Just like you would normally try to build up a relationship with a customer, it’s always best to try and adopt the same attitude with a journalist and build a relationship with them. The more you can be seen as helpful and useful, the more they will want to be helpful back.

6. If you’re really not keen on speaking to the press, find PR opportunities that mean you don’t have to - all the online activities will be good for you as will sending in a letter to the editor (simply find things in the paper or on the radio that relate to your industry and write a letter to the editor expressing your opinion). You can also send your newsletter to the press on a regular basis so they can see what’s going on in your business and also send in quotes to the press on articles they’ve already written. Even if they don’t use them right away, they may well use them in the future.

7. Be persistent with the press. If you find you’re contacting them all the time and can’t get hold of them, ask when they’ll be in and then contact them on that date or time. Or, if you find that no matter what you’re doing, they’re still not publishing your pieces, give them a call and ask them what’s going on. After all, if things weren’t working with a customer, you’d ask them why wouldn’t you?

8. Local newspapers will be able to react to the pieces you sent them fairly easily as their news changes all the time, but if you’re planning to send your piece into the national magazines, you’ll need to plan for things more in advance. Contact the editor of the magazine you’re thinking of and ask them for their press pack and list of stories they’ll be writing about in future issues. This will give you an idea of topics on their horizon so you can submit relevant pieces accordingly.

9. Don’t forget to put a PR plan in place for your business. It’s easy to overload yourself and give yourself lots to do each month, but keep it simple. For my business, I tend to write one PR piece per month and then try to put this into three places. So, for this month, I might write an article and place it in my newsletter, on some article websites and post it in my blog. Next month, I’ll try and do something different. Write yourself a plan for what you can do for the next three months.

10. I have an e-book that gives you much more detail about putting together a PR campaign.

To download it, simply go to my website at: http://www.exceptionalthinking.co.uk/Survive-Course.php

What I Know and Remember About Baseball - Seasons

The shift from 1974 to 2007 has been dramatic. Baseball once relegated to the dreams and comforts of summer is now a year round ambition for a surprising large number of players. Not only for paid players but for the amateurs as well.

Way back when, well if you were born after 1985, pre Baseball season followed the winter sports of basketball and in some areas soccer. As each Team Sports season has gotten longer in all age groups, with the exception of High School Sports, the down time and need for pre season conditioning has diminished.

Many training exercises in other sports cross over. Running, Sprint Training and over all Conditioning are several of the cross over items. Some movements are directly related to baseball while others a good for general athletic mobility. Man Team sports predominately have the athlete in a upright athletic position. Back straight, knees bent, weight forward on the toes.

Fielding, butt down hands out, and batting are the most notable baseball specific activity. Time should be set aside every couple of weeks to reacquaint the muscles with those movements. Simple stationary fielding drills in the back yard are excellent. They are quick, fun and involve family.

Thirty perfect swings with the bat, nothing to hit or strike, is also excellent and unique to baseball. During any season players should enlist the 6 second swing on a regular basis. Adapted from Tai Chi, players take a deliberately slow and controlled perfect swings.

From the step and continuing with a complete follow through, encourage your player to close their eyes and visualize a perfect swing at a perfect pitch. Relaxed and in balance from a comfortable starting position take an exhale breath and close your eyes. Visualize a pitch being released and going in slow motion, take the perfect stride in slow motion. Rotate the hips and load the core. Hands to the ball, roll trailing hand over leading hand, striking the ball, while close to the body and complete with the follow through.

This entire process should occur over a period of about 6 seconds, a true eternity when compared to live action. As a reader are probably wondering what Tai Chi has to do with batting.

A quick check on Chinese history will reveal centuries worth of expert swordsmen. The stroke of the sword is not so dissimilar to that of a bat swing. Each needs balance, power and targeting. As a comparative youngster to the human experience, baseball can learn a great deal from the activities of swordsmen that have been perfected and examined over hundreds of years and thousands instructors.

Simple drills not only provided muscle memory for doing them correctly, but when the parents are involved on such an individual and intimate setting, it makes up for time lost to the shows their Kids watch on Nick and other teen and pre teen targeting programming.

Parents compete with several media over the attention of their children. In 1974, competition was with the radio, shortly thereafter, MTV. Today, kids are bombarded from the moment they wake up until they fall asleep with sounds and noise from all sorts of things vying for their attention and spending dollars. Television, Radio, Public places at large and the internet.

As a Parent, the most important thing you can give to your child is yourself.

What better opportunity than to separate your and your child from all the noise and participate together in a single activity. This is where baseball memories start. These memories are held closest to the heart.

So, once or twice a month, regardless of the season or the weather, take time with your child to practice a little baseball. Keep things simple, keep them brief and try a few yourself.

Much of baseball is situational. If this happens then I do that. Learning correct technique is best learned when you teach. Let your child teach you a little. Reinforcement of proper technique is quick and deep. Strengthening the connection between you and your child.

It is amazing what you each will learn together.

Florida Marlins Handicapping: 2006 Season Preview
The past two seasons have been pretty identical for these Marlins. 83 wins and about -16 units in both of the two seasons. The Marlins have shown some success against left handed pitching as compared to right handed pitching. Vegas is correctly deciding the odds for the Marlins against left-handed pitching but is overvaluing them by an average of 14 points against right handed pitching. When looking to bet these Marlins, you want them against Left...

Chicago Cubs Handicapping: 2006 Season Preview
The Cubs are expected to win the World Series every year. So I exaggerated it but Cubs fans have their hopes and dreams set on this team every year and the team always stinks it up. They are consistenly overvalued by 13 points over the past 7 seasons. Betting against them is MONEY.Since betting odds in baseball have a lot to do with pitching, the pitchers in Chicago command great odds. The problem with that philosophy is that the team still blows...

New York Mets: 2006 Baseball Betting Season Preview
One word that comes to mind when thinking about the Mets is "bust". I guess a close second would be "loser". If you have ever bet on the Mets, then you would know that they have lost their backers 54 units over the past 4 seasons. Last year year was the first time in the past 4 season for them post an above 500 record. Pedro Martinez had a lot to do with that.In fact, they were overvalued as a favorite. The New York Mets are from a big market and...

San Francisco Giants Handicapping: 2006 Season Preview
The Giants are probably going to be on my list of teams to look to bet on. They had a disappointing 75-87 season last year but that was because Bonds did not play the entire season. These Giants have won their backers money in every season for the previous 6 seasons. A total of 91 units! With Bonds expected back in 2006, they will more likely resemble the Giants that won their backers money than the losers of last year. With a weak National League...

American Baseball Professional League - History
The first four teams were founded in South Bend, Indiana; Kenosha and Racine, Wisconsin; and Rockford, Illinois. The players were recruited wherever they could be found, but the best source seemed to be the Girls Athletic Association (GAA). The first season began in the summer of 1944. The league thrived the first few seasons garnering much popularity and fan support. But when the war ended in 1945, things began to get hard. Especially the fac...

A Mothers Day Remembrance

Richard, can I help you? This is the third time in 20 minutes that I have heard her ask. I have been on this planet now four decades, cooking professionally for almost two of them. I have cooked for presidents, vice-presidents, members of congress, movie stars etc., however, tonight, it is just family. I say this not in a bad way as the meals I prepare for them are made more out of love rather than a paycheck. A rare enjoyment for me with my all too common 12 hour days and hectic kitchen schedule.

After saying no for what seems the thousandth time, my mother will then testify that she will clean up the mess. I am tired of arguing with her. Fine. Clean it all up. I try to just do it on my own only to be scolded for doing so. If I ask why, I get some excuse that seems only to make sense to her. It leaves me and the other family members simply mystified.

Dont get me wrong, I love my mother. She is a very caring and loving woman. Her only goal is to make sure everyone is eating, all the time.

Growing up around food and a mother that really knew her way around the kitchen is something that todays generation seems to be missing out on. The family meal is a rarity as is the food served. Should one creep into the busy lifestyle, it is consumed in quick manner with minimal conversation and replaced with cell phones and message checking. Not at my house.

Coming home from school, the perfume of dinner could be smelled outside the door. Once inside, you could taste the wonderful aroma. A variety of foods were prepared, everything from scratch soups, hearty pot roast to pancakes and eggs (my personal favorite and one I still enjoy today.) My mother was at the stove working her magic and placing a spell on all who entered. There was always plenty to go around. Mom always made too much so second (or even thirds) were available. Just dont make yourself sick. she would say.

Explaining this to my wife when were first married, she has now experienced mothers full-on approach to happiness through food. I love your mother. she says, but, I just cant eat all the time. What can I say? My mom was a great cook who thinks that everyone can always eat a little more. Back in my own home, should a friend or co-worker drop in, I too am ready to recreate the magic. Dont force feed people when they get here. my wife reminds me (firmly).

Now that those wonderful days have past and we have all taken on the responsibilities of adulthood, the memories seem clearer than before. Certain smells and taste still trigger these happy and always eventful times, especially during the fall when the vegetable soup and spaghetti sauce endlessly flowed.

This celebrated holiday is upon us again and I am fortunate enough to be able to enjoy these memories with my mother. Who, despite her age and ailments, still wields a mean wooden spoon. She proved this the other day with her Cheese Tortellini with Fresh Tomato and Zucchini. Made just the way I like it, with her love in every spoonful.

As I raise my glass and salute this beautiful woman who raised, nurtured, and fed all of us for many years, I must make it quick. The pasta water is boiling

Hypoglycemia - Is It In Your Head?

The term “Hypoglycemia” has been used in many different contexts leaving many confused as to what it actually is or if Hypoglycemia actually exists.

In fact Hypoglycemia over the years has got a very bad rap. Some sceptics say that Hypoglycemia is simply a disease invented by a few Hypochondriacs, while others more cynical claim it is nothing more than a ‘celebrity illness’.?

Many highly respected doctors are reluctant to view Hypoglycemia as a legitimate condition and instead dismiss it as nothing more than imaginary.

In fact Time magazine in the 80’s went as far to run an article on Hypoglycemia which it unapologetically titled “The fad disease”. The article published in April 1980 suggested unequivocally that Hypoglycemia is nothing more than the figment of the sufferers imagination.

Is this however really the case?

Not according to many leading researchers on the condition.

Dr Harvey Ross and Geraldine Saunders authors of the book “Hypoglycemia the condition won’t treat” describe the diagnosis and treatment of Hypoglycemia as a “Medical Disgrace.” As time and time again sufferers are confronted with nonchalance and indifference by doctors who won’t accept its legitimacy.

And Dr Atkins world famous creator of ‘The Atkins diet’ even goes even further and says:

“The prejudice against the diagnosis and management of reactive Hypoglycemia by the medical establishment represents one of its most prolonged failures to practice good responsive medicine.

For the past forty or more years, nearly a majority of physicians have taken a Hypoglycemia doesn’t exist attitude and for them, presenting grossly abnormal results done at a proper medical lab will get you nowhere. It will get you angry denials, sometimes replete with expletives”

Pretty strong words!

You see the fact is that regardless of what the doctors or self proclaimed ‘experts’ may say Hypoglycemia is a real and very harmful condition. The problem for the sufferer however is that because the symptoms of Hypoglycemia can be so many and so varied Doctors seem reluctant to attribute these symptoms to the convenient answer of ‘Hypoglycemia’.

However regardless of the reluctance of many in the medical profession to diagnose Hypoglycemia, the average sufferer needs no more confirmation than the constant hunger, insomnia, chronic depression, irritability, tiredness and other symptoms that confirm that Hypoglycemia is not just in their head.

So if you are under any illusions that your condition is real rest assured- Hypoglycemia does exist!

Of course it is not possible to say whether the symptoms you are experiencing are Hypoglycemia related, however if they are- there is still hope.

There are many things that you can do to alleviate your hypoglycemic symptoms ensuring that they remain under control and do not cause you unnecessary pain.

If you do believe that you may be hypoglycemic then your first step should be your diet- have a look at some of the things that you have been eating and see if they have been causing you any trouble. For a list of foods a hypoglycemic should avoid check out http://www.hypoglycemia-diet-plan.com

In my next edition of this Ezine ill be explaining with Hypoglycemia actually is and how to identify it from your symptoms.

This article is very important if you think that you or somebody that you know may be suffering from the condition

Until next time
